Yes, an actual noticeboard. On a wall. Up three flights of stairs.
Waiting for results? We'd make the trip, climb those stairs, only to discover they hadn't been released yet. So we'd head home and try again another day.
Every trip cost time and money. As students, both were in short supply.
The first prototype
Around that time, we'd heard about this thing called JavaScript and a technology called PhoneGap. Apparently, you could build an app once and run it across multiple mobile platforms.
Naturally, we decided to give it a go!
Armed with AngularJS, PhoneGap, a wall full of sticky notes, far too much confidence and a desire to build a final-year engineering project that actually made a difference, we created the first Noticeboard prototype.
And yes, we literally built it in our parents' garage, on a Celeron computer. Not exactly Silicon Valley, but we made it work!
The idea was simple: access Notices and Files without travelling to campus.
Fast forward to 2026.
After years of work and lessons learned, the design has had a serious glow-up, the technology has evolved, and that little prototype has grown into a platform for schools, parents and communities.
Today, Noticeboard brings together Notices, Events, Calendar, Drive, Polls, Certificates, Circles and even AI.
Try explaining that last one to our 2014 selves!
One mission that hasn't changed.
12 years since our first prototype. Several technology stacks. A few questionable design decisions. One mission that hasn't changed.
Making communication simpler and bringing people closer together.
And there's still so much more we want to build.
Noticeboard — For the moments that matter.
